Fun With 3D prints: Climbing Gear

My designs are based on classic shapes and styles.

The first is a spring loaded camming devices based on the Friend. You can download my .stl files to print and assemble can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:908678 . While the 3D printed construction is obviously not rated for recreational uses, when tested, the CAM broke at 40-50 lbf static load.

The carabiner is modeled after the profile of the Black Diamond Oz. The wire gate is constructed from a modified #1 size paperclip.
