RUBI the Kid-Friendly Robot

The Machine Perception laboratory, hired our team at CalIt2's Prototyping Studios to consult, design and fabricate the 6th generation of a kid friendly robot named RUBI. RUBI 6 is a 3' tall robot, that interacts with children at preschools and daycares. Integrated Computer tablets, cameras, and speaker allow her to play games with children. And, further, a pair of 6DOF arms and an assortment of sensors allow Rubi to interact dynamically with her environment.

I designed the 6 DOF mechatronic arms and neck of RUBI. Also, I integrated the tablet computers, sensors and electronics into her chest and head.
